Magellan 6 incorporates a range of new features. We've listed the most important of these for you here.
1. Duplicates check
On entering pupils, applicants, teachers, classes, parents, guardians and other persons, an automatic check for duplicates is now made.
2. Better document management for Crystal Reports
In one print operation, Crystal Reports can, on printer output, optionally be exported to PDF format too with connection to document management. This means each report can be stored automatically as a PDF with a date and time stamp in document management as proof of printout.
3. Better document management for Word mail merge
Documents can be stored in document management prior to printing as individual documents. This means each mail merge can be stored automatically as an individual document with date and time stamp in document management as proof of printout..
4. Direct display of daVinci timetables
daVinci timetables can be displayed directly in Magellan for each teacher, class and pupil for the present day.
5. Enhanced marks overview
The marks overview can now be displayed in Magellan 6 with additional information for each pupil and - also new - for all pupils in the class. This is particularly beneficial for class meetings.
6. Simplified e-mail support
Double-click on an e-mail address to open the Send E-mail window for your current e-mail program. The e-mail address will then appear accordingly.
7. Support of standard e-mails
Using the e-mail addresses stored, you can also send standard e-mails in Magellan 6. This will enable you to notify all pupils in one class for example.
8. Text message notification
Magellan 6 enables immediate notification by text message. Costs per text message will be significantly lower than if you were to send these using your own mobile phone. Text message notification of pupils, teachers, parents/guardians and others is particularly suitable for fast notification of individuals in case of emergencies.
9. Filtering and hiding in selection lists
You can now show and hide columns in selection lists. Filtering the selection list view is now even easier too. For example, in a pupils selection list, you can display only pupils with the religion "Roman Catholic" that reside in Berlin.
10. Individually modifiable feature fields
Feature fields can be modified individually in the description.
11. Spellchecker
Magellan 6 is equipped with an automatic and manual spellchecker when inputting report comments and class assessments with the "Appraisal texts" category. This is particularly helpful for appraisal texts in primary school reports.
12. Two digital sources can be defined
You can now specify two digital sources: one for entry of passport photos (e.g. digital camera) and one for document management (e.g. a scanner)
13. MyMagellan supports appraisal texts
In MyMagellan, appraisal texts can now be input e.g. for primary/elementary schools.
14. Locking of key directories for users
You can specify for each user via user management whether the "Directories" menu is to be locked for that user in Magellan. This enables you to specify the group of persons entitled to modify key directories.
15. OPAC support in case of Magellan Library & Teaching Resources
Magellan Library & Teaching Resources includes a full expansion for management of teaching resources. By introducing media catalogues, separate stocks can be managed for teachers' and pupils' libraries for example. In addition, the OPAC research option enables simply entry of new media.
